What Does AHPRA Registration Mean for Your Treatment?
When choosing an acupuncturist, you may notice some practitioners mention "AHPRA registration." Here's what this means and why it matters for your care.
What is AHPRA?
AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) is the national body that regulates health practitioners across Australia, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and Chinese medicine practitioners. It works with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA) to maintain standards for safe, ethical practice in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
My Training
I completed my Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) in Sydney, meeting AHPRA's national training standards through comprehensive study of Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, clinical practice, biomedical sciences, and supervised patient care.
Why This Matters for You
Seeing an AHPRA-registered practitioner means:
✓ Standardized, verified training - Nationally recognized education and demonstrated clinical competency
✓ Safety protocols - Strict infection control, needle safety, and hygiene standards
✓ Professional accountability - Regulatory oversight and a formal complaints process
✓ Ethical practice - Required adherence to codes of conduct, informed consent, and privacy standards
✓ Consumer protection - Advertising guidelines prevent misleading claims
✓ Continuing competency - Ongoing education requirements to stay current
What This Means at Carlton Massage
When you book with me, you're seeing a practitioner whose education, safety practices, and ongoing professional development meet nationally regulated standards. Your treatment follows established protocols, my practice is subject to regulatory oversight, and you have formal recourse if concerns arise.
If you have questions about my qualifications, registration, or approach to treatment, I'm always happy to discuss them.
